Physical Education

In Physical Education, at Bilbrook CE Middle, we intend to create an environment where the students are participating in high quality enjoyable physical education lesson developing and challenging their skills by taking part in a variety of different sporting activities. It is important the students understand the lifelong benefits of staying physically fit and active as well as have the knowledge of sustain a healthy active life style.

Children are given opportunities to work both independently and as part of a team when tackling Physical Education tasks building resilience in the face of adversity. Children are regularly challenged individually and as a class given the opportunities to work on tasks which require them to apply their knowledge, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

The implementation of Physical Education at Bilbrook CE Middle follows the National Curriculum and the intention is that all students have a quality experience developing their physical skills and knowledge of a variety of sporting activities. We strive to improve and maintain the physical fitness of each student in a fun and creative way. The sporting activities include: Invasion games, ball and racket, Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, Outdoor Education and Swimming.

The impact is that children leave Bilbrook CE Middle as confident and enthusiastic children with the knowledge and skills required for the next stage of their education, and indeed, life.

In Year 6 all students are encouraged to take part in the residential visit to Standon Bowers Outdoor Education Centre to experience a range of adventurous activities including canoeing, sailing, climbing, abseiling and archery.

In Year 8 all students are encourages to take part in the residential visit to Culmington Manor in Shropshire. Students experience rifle shooting, underground caving, high ropes, rock climbing, abseiling and obstacle courses.

We use our Sports Premium funding to provide an increased range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities for our students.

Curriculum based upon team games. Developing team work, skill, thinking skill, strategies and tactics in order to be successful.
